Few months ago, I have met an exceptional person.
His name is Neil Mota. He is a photographer, more precisely, an artist.
He originally comes from Scotland and Portugal. Through his creations, he describes certain emotions or send a message. Being the only one in Montreal, to use a black and white silver camera, he brings us heat, a texture and the emotions we have lost in this era of digital camera.

One of his creations which has caught my attention, represents skulls.
This work, in the manner of scientific techniques, gives an artistic approach of each skull by revealing its history and origin. The skull is identifiable thanks to its bone structure. At this stage, we are plunged in an imaginary world. But, progressively, the face of a person appears and its original form comes to life. He invites us to share with him an anthropological dimension. In his artistic researches there is a symbiosis between modernity and tradition.

His work is certainly intemporal. In 2100, historians of Art will identify with difficulties the time of his work as it is inscribed in the infinite; in the imaginary. How can I really summarise the work of Neil? It is in fact, you, me and the other. It transcends all barriers. Has he not shared with me that it was paramount to build an "union" or, in other words, a connection between the subject and the artist?
Through each of Neil's picture, you are entering a universe of discovery, sensation, energy and space.

I had the pleasure of discovering a man of talent. An artist.

Il y a quelques mois j'ai rencontré deux personnes exceptionnelles.
L'une d'elle n'est autre que Neil Mota, un photographe, plus exactement, un artiste. Originaire d'Écosse et du Portugal, il fait, à travers ses oeuvres, décrire des émotions ou communiquer un message.

En étant le seul à Montréal à utiliser un appareil Argentique noir et blanc, il nous apporte la chaleur, l'une de ses oeuvres qui m'a interpellée dans toute sa splendeur, représente des crânes. Cette oeuvre, à l'instar des techniques scientifiques, donne une approche artistique de chaque crâne doté de son histoire, de son origine. Celui-ci est identifiable grâce a sa structure osseuse. A ce stade d'évolution de l'oeuvre on est plongé dans le royaume de l'imaginaire.

Ainsi s'esquisse, peu à peu, le visage d'une personne qui revêt sa forme originelle. Celle de la vie. Il nous plonge dans une dimenssion anthropologique. Enfin dans les recherches artistiques de Neil, il y a une symbiose entre tradition et modernité. Oeuvres intemporelles! Certainement.
Les historiens de l'Art, en l'an 2100, identifieront avec peine l'époque de la création. Parce que inscrites dans l'infini. Dans l'imaginaire.
L'oeuvre de Neil? C'est à la fois vous, nous, l'autre. Elle transcende toute barrière. Ne confie-t'il pas qu'il est indispensable de construire une "communion", en d'autres termes, une connexion entre Sujet et Artiste!
A travers chacune des Photos de Neil vous êtes plongés dans un univers de découverte, de sensation, d'énergie et d'espace.

J'ai eu plaisir à découvrir un homme de talent. Un Artiste.
